Chinese Feng Shui

Feng Shui concept and methods
Feng Shui is a Chinese concept describing whether the environment of a building is good for the luck of the people, living in the building, and their offspring. In ancient times Chinese were used to check Feng Shui when they chose the location for a tomb, building, village and city. Today many Chinese still believe that Feng Shui is critical for the luck of the relative people. Feng Shui has over 4000 years' history in China.

Feng Shui has two main methods: Shape method and Logic method. The former checks Feng Shui by observing the outlooks of the place. The later determines Feng Shui by evaluating the relationship of Yin and Yang in the place. Generally Shape method is used to check Feng Shui of a wild field. To check Feng Shui of a place with dense residents, Shape method and Logic method are often used together.

Besides the main methods, sometimes Li Qi is also used. We know positions of stars, planets, astronomical in the universe change continually. Ancient Chinese thought that different position relationships between Earth, Sun, Moon, Jupiter, Saturn and Venus cause different energy relationships, which affect the fortunes of the people on the earth. At different times, the position relationships of the five celestial bodies are differnt. Some Feng Shui professional look for the location of a building according to the time the construction work begin or the birth time of the persons who will live in the construction object. This is Li Qi.

Whatever method man chooses to evaluate Feng Shui, these principles must be followed:
1. Super ultimate exists everywhere. Any building is a super ultimate. The best form of a building for living is quadrilateral.
2. Everything has Qi (energy). The building must accumulate positive Qi and avoid negative Qi as much as possible in whole the environment.
3. The location of a building should be able to take much positive Qi from the universe. Basin and half-basin are examples of this kind of locations.

Feng Shui adjusting
Feng Shui can be changed through adjusting the environment. The most common way to change Feng Shui is changing the position of water. Water in Feng Shui means stream, for example, a way (traffic stream), water pipe, etc is water.

In theory, any change in the environment can cause Feng Shui change. However, instead of asking suggestions from Fengshui professional for every change to the environment, many people chose to learn some Feng Shui knowledge for daily application.

Feng Shui and the modern science
All in all, checking Feng Shui is caculating the Feng Shui Qi, the total Qi, in the location. It is a very complicated process to caculate accurately Feng Shui Qi, because too many elements must be counted in. Many principles applied in the process are still not able to be explained by the modern science, with other words, they are maybe unreasonable from the angle of the modern science. It is also possible that some Feng Shui theories and methods really need to be improved and corrected. However, a big part of principles of Feng Shui is as same as some of the most advanced concepts/knowledge we advocate to apply in the modern time. See the examples:
1. Positions of celestial bodies, especially Sun, Moon, Jupiter, Saturn and Venus, affect the fortunes of people on Earth. It is because the positions of the celestial bodies affect weather, force fields, electromagnetic waves and ecological systems on Earth. Any change in the micro environment can affect physical and mental condition of a individual person.

2. Protecting vegetation and forest are important for good luck for the people in the environment.

3. Good air, water and soil quality in environment are important for the luck of the people living in the environment.

4. Solid ground of a building is important for the luck of the people living in it.

5. The directions of a building decide the way the building gets in light and wind, so they are important for the luck (health) of the people living in it.

6. Beautiful and tidy environment inside and outside the building affects positively mentality of people and is good for the luck of the people living in the construction object.

7. The outlooks of the building and the environment around must be harmonic. Man must avoid to damage an environment for constructing.
